General information about the Vallisneria Spiralis

Discover the beauty of Vallisneria Spiralis, also known as the straight Vallisneria. This beautiful rosette plant with long stems is perfect for the background of your aquarium. An ideal plant for beginners, Vallisneria Spiralis requires little in the aquarium.

We cut them to 25 centimeters before shipping. This causes the plant to produce a stress hormone, which immediately makes it work hard to root and multiply in the aquarium.

This means you get more out of a single cutting than usual. This is only possible because we harvest them from our own growing trays.

If the Vallisneria Spiralis initially develops brown leaves , this is usually not harmful to the plant. By giving it extra plant food, it will quickly recover. The plant is recovering from transport and will immediately take cuttings when we prune it. However, keep in mind that the plant naturally tends to have slightly browner leaves at the top than at the bottom.

When planting thisVallisneriait is essential to ensure that the plant is not placed too deeply in the ground.

Start by planting the roots firmly into the ground.

Then gently pull on the leaves to lift the plant up a little,

which ensures that it stays in place without floating.

This gives the Vallisneria the best chance of success in your aquarium.

Alternatively, you can consider leaving the plant in the ring and inserting it shallowly into the substrate. This way, the Vallisneria will be able to develop healthy cuttings while adding an attractive green appearance to your aquarium.

Regularly pruning your Vallisneria plant is an excellent way to encourage cuttings and volume!

You do this by cutting the tops of the plantdiagonallyto cut off. If you cut them straight across, you risk this Vallisneria dropping all its leaves.

Make sure you don't cut any shorter than 5 centimeters above the crown. This gives the plant enough room to recover.

Due to the stress hormone the plant produces after pruning, a shoot will emerge within seven days, from which a smaller version of the plant will grow. Once this new plant has reached a height of more than 5 centimeters, you can move it to a different spot in the aquarium.
