Algemene informatie over de Pogostemon Erectus

Pogostemon Erectus is a plant with narrow, pointed leaves that grow close together along sturdy stems. This compact growth creates a lush and full appearance. The leaves are a fresh green and can develop a slight red tinge under the right conditions, creating a beautiful contrast.

This plant thrives best in bright light and with the right nutrients. Using a CO2 fertilization system will further enhance the growth and color intensity of Pogostemon Erectus. With its rapid growth rate, this plant can quickly form a dense and lush forest in your aquarium.

Maintaining Pogostemon Erectus is relatively simple. Regular pruning and removing old, discolored leaves promotes healthy growth and helps maintain a neat and organized appearance. Also, ensure adequate water circulation and check the water quality regularly to maintain optimal growing conditions.

Planting stem plants can be done in different ways, depending on what you want to achieve in your aquarium.

If you choose to plant the plants as a whole clump (without rock wool), this is a quick and easy method. You'll get a nice bunch right away and it saves you time. However, keep in mind that you may lose some stems this way.

If you're a bit more patient, you can choose to plant each stem individually. This allows you to work more precisely, allowing you to position the stems to evenly cover a larger area. Furthermore, planting them individually allows the stems to receive more light and circulation, as they won't be in each other's shadow. This approach can result in healthier, more lush growth in the long run.

When planting, you can use your finger to plant the stem about 2cm deep or aaquascape tool >Use for greater precision. Once you've planted the stem, gently pull it up slightly to a depth of 1.5 cm. This prevents rot. Be careful not to let the stems float.

Regularly pruning your stem plant is an excellent way to stimulate its growth and volume! By cutting back the tops, you encourage it to grow wider and fuller. Each pruned stem will eventually produce two new stems, giving your plant a longer, fuller appearance.

Use shears for a clean cut; this promotes rapid healing and prevents damage. Although you can also prune with your fingernail, shears provide a cleaner cut. Make sure you cut between the nodes – these are the nodes on the stem where leaves and branches grow.Leave at least three layers of leavesKeep the plant in a cool, dry place so it retains enough leaves for effective photosynthesis. This approach gives your plant the best chance to thrive in your aquarium!
